콜라주는 2차원 평면 그림에 종이나 천 등의 여러 가지 3차원 물질을 붙여 표현하는 방식으로 ‘풀로 붙이다’, ‘바르다’라는 뜻의 프랑스어 콜레(Coller)에서 유래된 말이다.
콜라주 기법은 디자인 작품에서도 널리 사용되고 있으며 시대적 상황에 따라 재료의 다양한 변화와 함께 수많은 예술가들에 의해 애용되고 있다. 재질이 서로 다른 헝겊, 비닐, 타일, 나무 조각, 종이 등의 일상용품을 서로 붙여 아이디어를 표현하면 재질감이 다른 데서 오는 독특한 느낌을 나타낼 수 있다.
몽타주는 이미지의 부분들을 모아 하나의 이미지로 만드는 것이다. 사진을 촬영하여 부분을 잘라 컴퓨터 그래픽스로 된 일러스트레이션과 하나로 만든 일러스트레이션 표현 방법이다.
몽타주(montage, 문화어: 판조립)는 따로 촬영된 화면을 떼어 붙이면서 새로운 장면이나 내용을 만드는 기법이다. 일반적으로 영화나 사진의 편집 구성의 한 수법으로 간주된다.
